    Description

    Article no.: 9789152779361

This book in Swedish holds images from documentary photographer Jean Hermanson's unknown masterpiece: his love song to Möllevången in Malmö, where Jean lived from 1980 to 2012. The square, the market trade just below Jean’s apartment, the busy street life…  ”Möllan" is renowned, beloved, notorious. There, Jean observed the inhabitants as few others have seen them – until now. People recognise themselves and remember, see their parents working, see themselves in pictures. The square talks to us!

Jean Hermanson (1938-2012) was a Swedish documentary photographer with a unique commitment to portraying the strength and vulnerability of workers, the conditions in which they worked. Together with poet Folke Isaksson he travelled throughout Sweden in the 1960’s and 1970’s taking pictures of the people in the industrial landscape. He also travelled to Ireland, Spain, Vietnam, Guinea-Bissau and many other countries. Jean also made documentary films, the first one portraying the neighbourhood of Möllevången in Malmö. But his photography from ”Möllan” has never before been published.
