John Håkansson - Vita husen

Överum is an industrial community in the south of Sweden. In the 1930’s the managing director of the Överum industries, also the chairman of the local government, assigned a big area of land to the inhabitants disposal for building of own houses. He had a vision of a white town. Because of this he wanted all new houses to be white. A lot of the houses have still today the original color. I have collected over 100 photographs of these houses in an album. It is the result of some days walking around with a camera in the community.
