Los viejos is a photobook about northern European pensioners who have settled full-time or part-time in Spain.
The pensioners are mostly from Sweden, but also from the rest of Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. The photographs are taken at Costa del Sol and Costa del Blanca during the years 2018-2021.
The book includes an afterword by social anthropologist and researcher Anna Gavanas, who writes about the growing phenomenon of Swedish pensioners in Spain. Anna Gavanas has written about the phenomenon in her own book Pensionärsplaneten” from 2016, which is based on over two years field work and 200 interviews on the Sun Coast and the Canary Islands.
