Landskrona Foto pays special attention to a country every year and 2017, the attention was paid to Finland and coincided with the celebration of Finland as an independent nation. For the last 25 years, Finland has established themselves as one of the most interesting places for photography, a stream of original and talented photographers have emanated from “the country of thousand lakes” to take place on the photographic world stage.

Timothy Persons, Adjunct Professor at the University of Aalto in Helsinki and the photographer Hasse Persson, former Artistic Leader for Hasselblad Centre curated the exhibition. Landskrona Foto View: Finland was exhibited in three parts – a kind of triptych that was moving from the earlier days until today.

In the first part works of the photographer Pentti Sammallahti where presented and a selection of his early students such as Jorma Puranen, Joakim Eskildsen and Jyrki Parantainen. Part two was a solo exhibition with Ulla Jokisalo and the finishing part three, was focusing on the younger members of the Helsinki-school and how the later generation uses the photographic medium as a tool for their artistic activity.
